Artist Kevin Blackham’s style is unique. There is simply nothing
else like his hand-made, mixed media, repeatable original artwork. Using
his technical line drawing skill, he layers images on paper then employs
acrylic paint, charcoal and pastel to create a truly distinctive effect.
The combination of sumptuous heavy watercolour paper and metal leaf give
everything he produces a classic quality. His calligraphic expertise can
be seen in the detailing – he trained at Reigate School of Art before
entering graphic design, the foundation for his artistic career.
Kevin’s work has been hugely popular for more than ten years now with collectors throughout the UK, Europe and USA. He has won two Fine Art Trade Guild awards and spends his time painting from his studio at home in the Gloucestershire countryside.

Born and brought up in a farming community in the Shropshire hills, Kevin’s
artistic talent showed itself from an early age. At seven he won an inter-school
handwriting competition and he later set up his own sign writing company
and gained a host of design commissions from local companies all whilst
still at school.
After finishing his A levels at Ludlow College he moved to Reigate in Surrey to begin a four year course in Graphic Design at Reigate School of Art and Design, specialising in hand lettering and calligraphy. After graduation he began a career as a graphic designer in the publishing industry, where he designed promotional material and book jackets for many top titles.
In 1997 an experimental mixed media picture on exhibition at the Harrods Gallery in Knightsbridge, London led to a meeting with De Montfort Fine Art. The resulting collaboration launched Kevin’s career as a highly successful full time artist – with a prolific portfolio of original mixed media work, which combined his love of calligraphy with a wide variety of different techniques.
By the year 2000 Kevin was nominated as the Best Up and Coming Artist by the Fine Art Trade Guild and awarded the prestigious title of Gift of the Year Winner 2000 for his piece L’Architecture I. In 2002 he won the Best Selling Original Print Artist again from the Fine Art Trade Guild. His work is held in private collections and galleries throughout the UK, Europe and the USA.
